Platt Park is a neighborhood in Denver, Colorado. On its northside is the Valley Highway. Also, on the north side of the community is the Louisiana / Pearl Station. It is a light rail station that provides access to other parts of the city, including the downtown area. Platt Park is roughly a four-mile drive to downtown Denver. Just west of Platt Park is U.S. Route 85.
 
Platt Park is filled with tree-lined streets and single-family homes. The homes are a mixture of single- and two-story homes. The 18-hole Overland Golf Course and Ruby Hill Park are just west of the area. The walkable South Pearl Street highlights the neighborhood and features restaurants (some of which offer outdoor dining) and shops. Looking towards the west, it is sometimes possible to see the Rocky Mountains rising over the horizon, depending on where you are. Harvard Gulch Park is located just south of Platt Park. To the southeast of Platt Park is the University of Denver.

Residents can enjoy the suburban feel of the neighborhood without being too far removed from downtown Denver. Platt Park offers many places to walk. You can go out with friends to eat at one of the many restaurants on South Pearl Street and then do some shopping afterward. People who live in Platt Park can attend the events that occur throughout the year.
 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The historic South Pearl Street has many great restaurants and shops. The Sushi Den is a Japanese restaurant that offers dine-in and take-out options. Founded in 1984, the award-winning restaurant features fresh seafood flown in from a Japanese fish market. Another excellent place to eat is Bird; it specializes in American comfort food. Bird offers dine-in and take-out options. Their menu includes gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan selections. They even serve breakfast until 4 PM.
 
For pizza and more, there’s the award-winning Kaos Pizzeria. Kaos Pizzeria prides itself on using fresh and local ingredients. The pizzeria is housed in an attractive 100-year-old cottage with indoor dining and a patio. Like many restaurants in the area, Kaos Pizzeria uses high-quality and fresh ingredients. Another great South Pearl Street restaurant is Jack’s on Pearl Wood Fire Grill. It includes the main dining area with a brunch, lunch, and to-go menu and a more laidback place called Jack’s Upstairs. They serve steaks, seafood, and more. Jack’s on Pearl also offers gluten-free options. Established in 2013, Uno Mas Taqueria y Cantina offers delicious Mexican food, including street tacos. They place particular emphasis on the freshness of their ingredients utilizing local sources.
 

Things to Do

The South Pearl Street Farmer’s Market runs for several months and offers a range of fresh foods and music. Also, on South Pearl Street is First Fridays, a family-friendly event that takes place on the first Friday of the month for several months out of the year. It includes art, food, and music. Those attending can purchase art from vendors. The James H. Platt Park features ample green space to relax. It is also the site of an annual movie night. The trip to downtown Denver is short for those looking for more things to do near Platt Park.
