Washington Park is a neighborhood in Denver, Colorado. At the southern edge of Washington Park are the South Valley Highway and a light rail station that provide access to other parts of Denver. In addition, multiple bus stops serve the neighborhood. Just south of Washington Park is the University of Denver. It is slightly over four miles from Downtown Denver. On the north side of Washington Park is Cherry Creek, which winds through Denver. On the south side of Washington Park is the University of Denver Station. It is a light rail station that connects it to other parts of Denver, including the downtown area. It is a convenient way for those who work downtown to commute.
 
Washington Park has plenty of green space. The area is primarily residential and has many places that are easily accessible by walking. Houses dot the tree-lined streets. The area mainly consists of single-family homes with a few condominiums. With the relaxed feel of the neighborhood, you might just forget how close you are to downtown Denver. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors in Washington Park. You’ll find the Denver Country Club on the neighborhood's north side. On the Southeast side of Washington Park, Southern Gaylord Street offers charming shops and restaurants and is home to the long-running Memorial Weekend Festival.

Local Lifestyle

Residents can meet their friends for dinner; enjoy a nice walk to a store or just around the park. Sidewalk-lined streets allow for peaceful walks around the neighborhood while enjoying a real sense of community. Many shops and restaurants in Washington Park can be reached in just a short walk. Washington Park is an excellent example of suburban life within reach of the city. Residents enjoy visiting the fun places to eat and shop on Southern Gaylord Street.

Don’t let the residential slant of Washington Park trick you, and there are plenty of great places to eat nearby without having to go downtown. For starters, Perdida Kitchen, on the neighborhood's southeast side, serves coastal Mexican food and woodfire dishes and can host private events. Wash Park Grill not only offers Italian food but also live music. Gluten-free options are available as well.
 
Founded in 1977, Reiver’s Bar and Grill offers lunch and dinner, including brunch on weekends. They feature a great range of foods, including burgers, sandwiches, and more. In addition, Shoppers have the option of the Wish Boutique, which offers women’s clothes and accessories. Not only does the Wish Boutique offer fun clothes, they even offer private parties for those wanting a fun night out of shopping.
 

Things to Do

Washington Park is an active community with a lot going on. Southern Gaylord Street hosts the Memorial Weekend Festival. The multi day festival has been going on for decades. It has live music, food and drinks, rides, and various vendors. On the west side of Washington Park, you’ll find Washington Park. It provides residents with a beautiful place to exercise, like going for a walk, jogging, or riding a bike. There’s even paddle boarding or paddle boating for a fun time on the water. In addition, the Washington Park Boathouse allows for open-air parties to be hosted on the shore of Smith Lake.
